March 28, 2011

We have so many people we are teaching right now. We are working really hard right now in San Isidro so that they can put missionaries there. So we have like 3 families we are teaching. We have a goal to baptize 2 families in San Isidro before this change is over and we are working really hard with the members cause the members are pilas. Just working so hard so they can have missionaries there. In Sebaco we do have progressing investigadores but here it's hard cause the members don't want to do anything they don't want to visit or help. But JOrge the friend of Marlon is stoked to go to Conference this week. He is progressing. He has come a long way. He is just scared to get baptized but we are working with him. And then the guy who hadn't gone to church for 30 years has come to church with us 2 times now and believes we everything we have taught him and so we are finding success. It's just really hard working here in Sebaco cause the members don't want to help. The only people that go with us are our recent converts - the long time members, no. It's hard but I love our recent converts. And Marlon is telling all his friends and we have appointments with him and his friends this week. So we are teaching just hoping we find success. And can take the first step and get baptized. I just hope they come to a knowledge of the truth and that they can feel it for themselves

That is so crazy that Brooklyn is in drivers ed now all drivin like a boss. Brooklyn is freaking awesome. I love that girl to death. Let her know that I am so proud of her. She is a good person. I love her. And tell Brandon to go to San Juan Del Sur for his honeymoon. It looks so legit and everyone loves it. I have seen many pictures. It would be the perfect place to go. I'm gonna go there for my honeymoon.

I am so jealous or the weather you got there. It's so freaking hot here. I am dying or heat en serio. I want rain but everyone says when it rains it like floods the streets and it rains everyday. But it is like so dry and hot right now.

No that makes me so sad that Sister Watts died. She was awesome. I loved that lady. She was a good friend. I used to always talk to her. What kind of cancer did she have? Sister Watts is the bomb. She always had a smile on her face. Hopefully that family is doing ok. I send my love and my respect to them.

Psh you are so excited for conference week? I bet ya I am more excited. I can't wait for conference. It will be so legit. And I am so happy for Nathaniel that is so awesome. If you see him or talk to him tell him I am proud of him. That really does make me so proud. I would like to be updated with how it goes with him and his servise mission.

So this week we went to a restaurant cause our lunch appointment canceled cause she got way sick. So we went to the richest restaurant in town ha ha. Cause we can. And we entered and there was only one family of Latins there. But after 15 minutes of waiting like 15 gringos came in talking in English and me and Elder Sarceno were so confused. We didn't know what to do. We were just laughing the whole time. And then after like another 15 minutes another group of like 8 gringos came in and it was just a restaurant full of gringos speaking English ha ha. But the group of 8 were Jehovas Witnesses and the other group we have no idea like tourists or movie makers. I dunno maybe they were here filming that thing on Nicaragua. The documentary you just saw.

So today for PDAY we went on a way sweet hike up a river where there were indian drawings and little water falls and water holes where people were swimming. I wanted to swim so bad. It kinda reminded me of the hike at the ranch that we always do. I'll send pictures of it so you can enjoy the view.

Right now this part goes out to ginger. ha ha. DOUBLE RAINBOW WHAT DOES IT MEAN HA HA DOUBLE RAINBOWS. Me and my comp were talking about that today.

Anyways know that I love ya and miss ya and that I have officially completed 8 months today. 33 percent done. Ain't no thing. Can you wait 3 times longer? Course you can cause 2 years aint no thing. I love you to the max mama. Until next time. One week from now. Love ya love ya love ya a ton!

Love ya all,

Wow! So jelous that you got to listen to Elder Holland, I can't wait till conference. I am so stoked. I am also stoked for all our investigadores and recent converts to hear the apostles and prophet speak. It will be so awesome. In one week I complete a third of the mission a full 8 months. I am so accustomed to being here it pretty much feel like this is my home. Well it is ha ha.

So sounds like Elder Holland gave a really good talk now you just got to take from what you learned and apply it in your life. Put in practica that which he taught. Just stay on the boat and you won't be disapointed. Ya we got problems in this life but we got to learn from them and grow from them. A scripture I like to share that goes hand in hand with fighting through problems is in alma 26 versiculo 27 it talks about when we are going through hard times and we just want to give up we just got to endure a little longer and the Lord will comfort us. He is always there with us. We will always come out on top if we are on the Lord's side. We will always win just got to fight through the trials in our life for a short time. God knows us and knows our problems and diffuculties. We just need to depend on Him. But we also have to do our part and act. For conference I think this time I will be able to go to the priesthood session and both sessions on Sunday which I am totally stoked for.

But as for me and my area, I am still here in Sebaco for another change but I did get a new comp, Elder Sarceno. He is from Texas and has one less change than me. He came fluent in Spanish but knows Enlish too. But even tho he is fluent in spanish I dominate the lessons. I freakin love teaching now that I can pretty much say waht I want to say during a lesson. I can pretty much teach what ever and help people resolve their doubts and answer questions. My bible is just marked up to the max and its' so organized and I am now doing a Book of Mormon. I just love searching scriptures especially when I find an answer to someone's questions. For example we have an investigator that is waiting on a sign or a vision or a dream cause a lot of people want that. And during my last studies I found the perfect scripture for him. It's found in DyC 63 :8-10. For some reason I have a new obsession to search scripture and it's awesome. I am learning so much. I can pretty much resolve what ever doubt or question they have from using the bible or the book of mormon. But ya my new comp is awesome. And totally had another way awesome click in speaking spanish. I love it.

So I finally got your package this week and the glow in the dark bracelets are freakin awesome. We partied with them. Where I eat dinner there are 6 kids and we had fun with them. No one here has ever seen glow in the dark bracelets so they were lovin them. And papa's tie is the tie that makes me work harder. Every time I wear it I decide I am representing paps and I got to work harder and make him proud.

This week in church we had 8 investigadores. It was awesome., I was so frustrated with my last comp that hated work and our numbers were going down but now I am comp mayor and we doin work. When I came to Sebaco there was 28 people in church and this past week we had 54 and hopefully we can keep lifted. With the comp i just had my last change we dropped to like 36 and it made me mad. I was so frustrated but now I am boss so hopefully we can find some success this change.

So I crossed off another thing on my bucket list ha ha. I got my hair cut like a Nica ha ha. I had my first hair cut in Nicaragua. Usually I just had someone with a shaver shave my heard but this time I went to the barberia and had the barber cut my hair like a Nica ha ha. It's a different form but its awesome ha ha. We call it the Nica Cut.

Well we have a possibility for this week that we have been working with for a while. I have seen a big change in him and I know he is ready just he doesnt know that he is ready yet. So we will see what happens. Before we met him he had smoked for more than 30 years and hadn't gone to church in 30 years. He is now over a month sober of smoking and has gone to church with us 2 times. His name is Luis.

I always seem to write something about Marlon so I will do that now. He wants to go to the temple so bad and he keeps meeting members of the church every where he goes and they talk and he learns something new then we teach him more in depth about it. Like this week he wanted to learn about the temple and when he could go and other more personal stuff. He has the thirst to learn more and it's awesome. He is pilas. His wife I think in time will be a member. She is starting to warm up to us a little bit at a time and Marlon told us that when we don't come she asks him where we are. Another cool thing I printed off a bunch of pictures for Marlon and this week when we went to his house he took one of the pictures and made a huge copy of it like 18x12 and framed it made it look all nice and it's hanging in his house. The pictures was from his Baptism of him, me, and all the members that came to his baptism. It is awesome. I have loved seeing the change in him. He is my best friend.

Well I got to go. I love ya and hope you enjoy the pictures I sent. I am pretty much sending you all the pictures I care about because so many cameras get stolen and the memoria gets erased and I don't want that to happen and if you have it all I am good to go. so for that reason I am sending so many pictures but love you.

I know that this is the true church. God gives us so many signs that this is the true church but sometimes there are just 1 or 2 things that make us second guess the truth even tho we have so many things telling us that we have the truth. We can never second guess the truth we have known all along throughout our whole life. I love this gospel and I know it's the Church of Jesus Christ.

Love you so much!

Well don't have much to write but solo just want to write about how awesome Marlon is and the awesome experiences he is having. So about a week ago he was visiting his friend in Leon or Chinandega I cant remember. But his friend started talking to him about how he found the true church and gospel and started going off about his church and how he knew with out doubt it was true but never mentioned the name of the church. But was just baptized into that church. After a little while of talking about their beliefs cause Marlon was sharing stuff as well they came to the conclusion that they were from the same religion. One of his friends that lived In a different city was also just baptized and became a member of The Church of Jesus Christ. It was awesome but the wife of his friend was not baptized and Marlon said when she told him that she wasnt baptized she asked him what he thought. And he said at that moment he shared his testimony with her and how he knew it was the true church.

Another story. We passed by Marlon's house this week and he was teaching his wife. His wife won't talk to us. She is pretty catholic she talks to us just not about the religionous stuff. So he started teaching her and gave her a pamphlet about the restoration and she started reading it. He is Pilas.

Another man this past week he told us he couldn't go to church cause his family was going to go to San Juan Del Sur for a vacation to spend time together as a family but ne knew the vacation would last through Sunday. So he told us he prayed and asked God for Permission to see if it was alright if he went on vacation with his family instead of going to church. Ha ha well funny story not really funny but the next day the tsunami and earthquake hit Japan and all the news reporters said that it was going to effect San Juan del Sur and that no one should be there and it was evacuated. So ha ha he recieved his answer so he ended up going to church.

Had a bomb PDay made pupasas and played volleyball with water balloons and towels and just had a huge water fight it was legit with the whole zone. I left my little book at home that reminds me what I need to write home about so really I dunno what to write. So I will keep this one short. Sorry if I let you down with exciting things but I guess you will have to wait for next week unless I can think.

Changes are this week. I think I am out of here I dunno. I hope they send me back to Jinotega. Presidente Guzman visited me today. I freakin love that guy.

I'll put this in there. I dunno if I wrote home about this but I saw a guy get hit by a car. He was crossing in front of the bus and I was in the bus and it didn't look very good and a taxi nailed him and he went flying and hit face first on the asphalt and was bleeding pretty good. He couldn't move and the taxi just took off. Really the police dont exist here. It is so different here. I can't tell you how many dead bodies I have seen on the television. Bodies that are still bleeding.

But ya know i love ya and miss ya.

So since you started off asking how the birthday was I figure I will write to you first about the best birthday I have had. This past week was awesome and full of fun. I already told you about what went down last pday with the little surprise thing. But Tuesday we made cake as a zone in the church and then the ZLs surprised me with a pinata. And everyone got a swing at it. It was awesome and way enjoyable. So Tuesday was a bomb day and monday as well and they werent even the days of my birth. But then came the actual birthday day. And when people would ask me .... What are you going to do for your birthday I would reply with "I am going to baptize my best friend." I said that everytime ha ha. Anyways so the hermans in our district gave me a sweet bracelet and sang to me as did many.

But also my birthday was the big day! The goal for Marlon. The goal that he set for himself. I saw him in the morning in a little bus and talked to him quickly. I could tell he was really nervous but didn't say anything about his nervousness. He wished me a happy birthday and we set a time for his baptism. We set it for 6 o clock Wednesday night. So we got everything prepared and went to his house so we could go together. We talked for a while and still I could see how nervous he was. He kept tellin us I'll meet you there at 6 but we didnt leave him. We walked together and talked about random stuff to try to take away the nervousness he had. So when we got to the church he talked to me alone just me and him. He told me how nervouse he was. At that moment a bunch of stuff came into my head about what to tell him. I told him many things and shared many things with him and shared my testimony. After that he asked me if I would join him in a prayer. So after that we prayed. And when we said amen he told me that he felt happy and he felt good and felt prepared. So we went outside to where everyone else was waiting for us. They asked him how he was and all he could say was prepared and ready. It was amazing. I love prayer and the comfort you can recieve from it. So we had an amazing baptism this week on my birthday which just made it the best birthday ever. After I baptized him he gave me the biggest hug it was amazing. We had been working with him for a little over 2 months till he felt prepared. So we grew close and I really felt like I baptized my best friend. Then after the Branch surprised me and him with a cake and soda and we just celebrated and just enjoyed the night of awesome.

So I sent pictures of a monkey and me ha ha awesome ya. Well the monkey was awesome and friendly until my comp pulled its chain and it got mad and attacked me like for real attacked me. If it wasn't on a chain I would be dead right now ha ha. You know how on videos when gorrillas attack. Ya that is what it seemed like... I just full on saw the rage of the monkey and it charged. I barely escaped.

So on the bus there are many people that play instruments and pretend they are blind. I would always say PRETEND they are blind even though it really seems like they are. But this past week the blind guy was playin the guitar and when he was done he walked through the bus askin for money and I gave him like 3 cords. And then we told me - gracias chele- which is proof he wasnt blind ha ha. I didn't say nothin just gave him 3cords and he says gracias chele. It made me laugh ha ha. Chele is a white person by the way.

So we are now in charge of a little branch up the road where a couple of members live. So we went to have sacrament meeting. 7 members came in. Total there was 11 and we just had a testimony meeting. 6 people shared their testimony and it lasted 2 hours. I feel like I heard the life story of 2 people. No joke I know their whole life. But I felt the spirit so strong during that testimony meeting.

I know that this church is true. Sometimes we go through times where we struggle with our testimonies but we should never doubt the truths we have always known. The truths we grew up with. The truths that we know are. I love this gospel. I know that this is the true church and that we really are Building up the Kingdom of God. I know with out doubt that we have a living prophet to guide us, teach us, and help us each day in our life. That the Book of Mormon is the word of God. That it really is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know with out doubt and with 100 percent surety that this is the Kingdom of God and the true church.

Love ya and miss ya all,

Well mother you are freakin awesome and I love you. Today we went to Dario, a city about 20 minutes south of Sebaco. They are part of our district. My district threw a surprise birthday party for me and it was freakin awesome and I loved it. We had it at a rich catholic lady's house. The missionarys in Dario eat there. She is awesome she is rich. Well rich for livin in Nicaragua and her house is really nice. This is the nicest house I have been in during my time in the mission.

We had cake, made brownies, ate and watched a movie. We watched Charly. That movie is so sad and awesome at the same time.

The Sports World sounds awesome and the jazz trading DWILL wow what a mistake but what ev que me importa the jazz arent my team ha ha. Still haven't recieved my package but I know it will get here soon and I can't wait. It will be awesome. Tomorrow we are going to make cake for our zone meeting cause I still have the cake mix you sent cause ovens dont exist in Sebaco where I am at. I'm about to leave the teenage years and jump in to the 20s how awesome. Legit i know kinda like me. I'm legit right?

Alright so I started teaching an english class and well when I teach I make the class call me Brother JMO. 2 reasons: Brother is in english and the J [ jay ] sound doesn't exist in spanish. So the class calls me Brother J mo and every week I teach the class [ palabras de la calle] words from the street like Awesome Thug Gangsta Swag...things like that and it's awesome. Ha ha but they are learning.

My goals for the mission go as followed: really I only have one that I like to focus on. A lot of missionaries here just throw people in the water the mission life here is so different than it should be. They just throw them in the water and the people go inactive. My goal is to really convert the people and not just throw them in the water. Like Marlon he shared his testimony with me and even tho he is not going to be baptized till Wednesday he tells me that he is already mormon. He has accompanied us to church 5 times and knows that which we are teaching him is true. And I have loved to see the change in him happen. He is now praying and reading the book of mormon everyday and has a goal to finish the book of mormon in 5 months. Really I just want to convert the people not baptize the people.

For you this is the advice I am going to give you. Download all the EFY songs or a lot and listen to them listen to what it is saying in each song I promise it will help you. As dumb as it might sound do it because they are very influencial and you can find many answers through listening to EFY. And just always read the book of mormon always and pray with faith real intention and sincere heart. Don't just pray, conversate with your father in heaven. He wants to talk to you. Give him the oppurtunity.

Know that I love you and I know that this church is true with out a doubt in my mind if i didnt i wouldnt be here. I love this work ya its hard but life aint about takin the easy road out. Love ya and Miss ya
