February 20, 2012

Hello mother that I love so much. So yes I am still in San Ramon. Yes I did get the valentines box and my card but no I did not get my birthday package. I do have a new companion and well it is another member. I am now working with my third member in a row and to be honest I don't really like it but at least they are cool but it just isn't the same. My comp is way cool. His mom is from the states, from North Carolina. He was born in the states but has always lived here. He doesn't speak much English though. Anyways my comp is 19. I dunno how but he is a doctor. He studied for 4 years but he has some sort of degree. He is going to study more after the mission. He did study in Los Angeles for 2 years. His name is Elder Madrigal he is preparing for the mission. He has his papers in but still doesn't know where he is going. He is waiting on that.

So this week in church we had an attendance of 44 people and 10 investigadores. It was a bomb week but we didn't reach our goal. We wanted 50 people but we didn't get it. If the branch president's family would have gone we would have made the goal but the branch president's family is like going inactive.

The activity with the youth, it went good. We cleared things up. There was 11 of us that went, like 4 invetigators and then after we went out to eat

So yesterday a lady that we are teaching, a good friend of ours named Sheyla, gave birth. We went to the hospital with her. It was just us, her other daughter and a friend who is also a good friend of ours. They almost didn't let us enter the hospital but my comp whipped something out and was like Ima doctor ja ja. It was super funny and so they let us in and we went and saw her and visited her and spent time there with them. The baby was born with some problems but I hope all is good. Now we are going to go visit them tonight. I have made some really good friends here. Even though they aren't members of the church and I don't know if they will ever be, they are still amazing friends. I really do have a love for them.

Love you to the max mommy. I am going to send you some pictures so you can see all the awesoming that I have been doing here ha ha. And Brooklyn looks very beautiful in her pictures. I can't wait to see her when I get back. It will be crazy when I get back.

So I will definitely let you know when I want my card activated. It will be one of these weeks. But that is so awesome that Brandon got the job and that he will be starting on my birthday. I am so proud of him. He is going places in life and doing it awesomely... Well just want to throw a shout out to those who are completing years this month real soon. Actually they would be Nathan Pennington and Amber. You both are way awesome happy days of getting older. Hope you enjoy the awesomeness that comes out of that special day.. Keep it fresh and keep it real. I love ya all.

And by the way I love red bull. Red bull is amazing but ya definitely going to try and not drink it after the mission.

Love you mommy and miss ya a ton. Thank you for everything especially for being awesome.

February 13, 2012

Buen dia. So yesterday I had the opportnity to go back and visit some friends in Jinotega. It was an amazing experience. It was awesome cause everyone remembered me by name and they were so stoked to see me. I spent the night there and then woke up at 4 o clock this morning and went to Managua to sack out my cedula. And then came back in a ride from President Guzman from Jinotega it was awesome.

So we are working hard in San Ramon. I put a bet with the district president that if we don't have 50 people in church next week I will take him out to eat but if we do he has to take us out to eat. This is a number they haven't reached in forever so it will be hard but I know that we can reach it. So my comp takes off this week. We have changes on Wednesday and to answer your question, yes all the missionaries go to changes. And yes I will make sure to talk to Elder Ashby's mom.

Umm ya I got something else for you. The youth president of the district went up to San Ramon this week and told us that we were going to have an awesome activity for the youth this week. So we made a bunch of invitaciones that pretty much said that there was going to be a party in Matagalpa for the youth. He told us to invite members and non members so that is what we did and everyone is way stoked to go. Well we found out that it really isn't an activity like we thought it was going to be. A member from the 70 is coming and it is a fireside so I think we are kinda screwed pardon my french. Cause we have invited so many people to a party that we are not going to have ha ha. The thing is the kids aren't like kids from the states. I am thinking that they aren't going to keep the reverence and they are going to show up being thugs. They are not going to want to sit down and listen to a member of the 70 not knowing who he is. They think it is going to be a party when it is going to be the exact opposite. It definitely is not going to go down how you think it will go down. I promise you that. I dunno what we are going to do. But what ev.

But back to other stuff, if the ward in La Verkin wants me to give a talk I will be happy to do it but only if they ask me to ha ha. If not that's cool, you don't have to go around telling them I want to give a talk if you know what I mean ha ha. I do give a talk almost every week in San Ramon.

It's crazy how fast the mission is flying by, only 5 months left. Well a little more but 5 months aint nothing. To be honest 2 years aint no thang either.

Well mommy love you and miss you a ton keep it real and keep being awesome.

February 6, 2012

That is like some sort of church and on top are a bunch of plants that grew on top of it.

Well I'll let you know that we are having a lot of success in San Ramon. We had the highest attendance this Sunday that has been had in months. 35 people. It was awesome. We also gave 5 callings and we are trying to start up seminary in San Ramon. Instead of just having the Branch President we now have a Relief Society president and Primary president and both have 1 counselor. We also now have a Elder's Quorum president and we found a seminary teacher. We are seeing many results.

We also had an amazing branch counsel this week. I was the one that gave the counsel and it was tight. They were all animated and ready to work. I know that the branch is going to grow. We are also trying to prepare 2 people to serve missions. So we are getting work done in San Ramon. I don't want to leave, I want to stay at least one change more to organize it better. I will have to get another comp my comp has to go back to school. There is a lot of work that needs to be done there. I have only been in San Ramon for como 6 o 7 weeks but I feel like I have done so much there and have ganas to have changes. We are struggling right now on finding positive families but we are working hard. We did baptize 2 families in January tho.

Other thing, I met a white guy this week that told me that he was an Elder from Israel and said that he could prove to me that our church was false. He started telling me a bunch of things try to get me to believe. I came to find out that not only can I not teach worth crap in English but also that my testimony is stronger than anybody's knowledge about the scriptures. I shared my testimony with him like 4 times and he just kept getting madder and madder. There was like 5 white people vs this guy but I think I came out on top. They guy started interrupting me every time I tried sharing my testimony and just got mad. I was calm the whole time and told him that I knew the truthfulness of what I was doing. Don't even worry mommy I know exactly what I am doing here and there is no one that can take my testimony from me.

So only 6 weeks in the mtc now. That is awesome. Why couldn't they have changed that when I was there. I was dyin in the mtc, I just wanted out ha ha.

Thank you for everything you taught me. I love you a ton mommy and respect you a ton.

I am so stoked to start a team with the crew when I get back. I promise we will dominate with my skill psh I have improved my game so much. That will be so awesome if we start a team. With Steve being coach just like the throw back days. In a short 5 months I will be there and we can start ballin ha ha. Love ya.

This is Elder Ortiz from Honduras.

January 30, 2011

Well I guess I will let you know what's up here. As we say in the mission we are throwin fire here. We baptized another family this week. Pedro y Mayra. I will send you pictures. It was a Jarron Azul as we also say in the mission. We had to rush it; we almost didn't do it. We had it all planned for Saturday at 12 but then Pedros' boss called him into work and so we had to get everything done way fast. I hurried and called the branch pres so he could fill up the baptismal font, called the zls so they could bring us clothes, but all went good. We got it all done in time. We were going to go over to Pedro y Mayras house at 11:30 to take them to the baptism, but something told me that we had to go at 10 so we went at 10. And now I know why, cause he wouldn't have been there if we went at 11:30.

Anyways also I am pretty much branch president. Our Branch president doesn't do much so I got permission to give everyone calls and well I pretty much represent the branch. Right now my comp and I are helping two jovens prepare for the mission. Yesterday we had a district leadership meeting. I went with like 5 recent converts that I think have potential to be great leaders in San Ramon. Also yesterday I got the folder to help the 2 jovens prepare for the mission and get their papers started. I will be helping them fill out their papers this week. My comp knows a lot too, and I know he will serve a full time mission. He is 20.

Another thing, I completed 18 months this week so me and Elder Weber that came out with me had a little slumber party at his house and burned pants. I'll send you the pictures so you can get a taste of how it was for us.

I feel good. I feel like I am working hard. I love pretty much running the branch. I feel like I am doing a lot. We finished the month of January with 4 baptisms 2 familias and 2 priesthoods. With a retention of 18/21 which was the highest percent of the zone.

I am so happy for Daniel Farah. That is so awesome. That is dope that he will be learning Spanish. But pure Spanish he will learn, not Latin Spanish, but what ev it's all good. We will all be able to communicate with our selves after the mission. But I'll probably be married by the time he gets back. I was hoping that he was going to be in the MTC in Provo for 9 weeks so I could have seen him. But what ev it's cool.

Love you a ton. Thanks mommy. Take care and have a great week. Love you.
